This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application Offline Audio Guide: Rome (the “App”) handles information. The App is a free, offline audio tour guide for the city of Rome. It is provided by the developer identified in the Contact section below (the “Developer”, “we”, “us”).

The short version: We do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data. The App has no user accounts, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking. Your device location is used only on your device to show where you are on the map and is never sent to us or anyone else.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. The App has no servers of its own, no sign-in, and no user profiles. We do not gather names, email addresses, contacts, identifiers, or usage analytics.

2. Location

With your permission, the App uses your device’s approximate and precise location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) for a single purpose: to display your current position as a marker on the in-app map so you can orient yourself while touring.

Your location is processed entirely on your device.
It is never transmitted to the Developer, and we never receive or store it.
The App works without location permission; only the “you are here” marker is unavailable.
You can grant or revoke location permission at any time in your device’s system settings.

3. Internet access and third-party services

Most of the App’s content (audio guides, maps, and text) works offline. When your device is online, the App may request the following from third-party services to enrich the experience:

Photographs of monuments from Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons (Wikimedia Foundation).
Interactive map tiles from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation).

As with any request to a website, these services necessarily receive your device’s IP address and a standard request (for example, which image or map tile was requested) in order to respond. We do not control these third parties; their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies, linked above. The App sends them no personal information beyond what a normal web request requires, and it shares no data about you with them.

4. Audio narration

The spoken audio guides are produced by your device’s built-in text-to-speech engine. The narration text is contained within the App and is converted to speech locally on your device. No audio or voice data is recorded, uploaded, or sent anywhere.

5. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent, or share any personal data, because we do not collect any.

6. Children

The App is a general-audience travel guide and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

7. Data retention and security

Because we do not collect or store your data on any server, there is nothing for us to retain or expose. Any preferences or cached content remain on your own device and are removed when you clear the App’s data or uninstall it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective date” above and posting the revised policy at this URL.
